Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $41.84 Jan. 26, up from $35.91 Jan. 19.
U.S. hogs averaged $56.27 on a carcass basis Jan. 26, up from $46.62 Jan. 19.
The U.S. pork cutout was $89.51 per hundredweight Jan. 26, up from $88.56 Jan. 19.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 26 was 2.425 million. It was 2.282 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.453 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Jan. 27 Signature Four price was $174.04 per 100 kilograms, up from $170.30.

The Jan. 27 Hams Marketing cash price was $172.04, up from $168.30 Jan, while HyLife was $185.42 this week, up from $181.71 Jan. 20. OlyWest was $165.60, up from $160.60.
OlyWest 2021 was up, at $193.10, from $187.30, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $202.81, up from $200.62 Jan. 20.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported that domestic carcass prices for finished bulls were $475-$550 per cwt. hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $465-$510 per cwt. Mature bulls were $300-$400 per cwt., while mature cows were $300-$400 per cwt.
Carcass prices for bulls sold into the United States were $390-$425 per cwt., while heifers were $340-$384 per cwt., Mature bulls were $313-$326 while mature cows were $300-$315 per cwt. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were C$2.50-$3.70 per pound for bulls and $2-$2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was $1.60-$2.38 per lb.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 204 sheep and 410 lambs sold Jan. 22.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,083 sheep and 280 goats sold Jan.22.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $280-$330 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $285-$326, 70-85 lb. were $280-$320, 86-105 lb. were $238-$301, and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-$245. Wool rams were $115-$158 per cwt. Cull ewes were $100-$180.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$320, 55-69 lb. were $275-$310, 70-85 lb. were $280-$305, 86-105 lb. were $215-$285 and 106 lb. and heavier were $200-$221. Hair rams were $145-$165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $185-$217.
