Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Dec. 18 was $36.54 and $42 Dec. 11.
U.S. hogs averaged $48.39 on a carcass basis Dec. 18, down from $49.66 Dec. 11.
The U.S. pork cutout was $ 83.97 per hundred weight Dec 18, down from $86.62 on Dec 11.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Dec. 18 was 2.689 million. It was 2.674 million the previous week. Slaughter was not available for last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Dec. 16 Signature Four price was $172.22 per 100 kilograms, down from $179.61.

The Dec. 16 Hams Marketing cash price was $170.22, down from $173.71, HyLife was $182.35 this week, down from $186.04 Dec. 9, and OlyWest was $166.30, down from $171.60.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $190.90, from $193.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $194.17, up from $193.85 Dec. 9.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association reported that domestic carcass prices for finished bulls was $475-$550 per hundredweight, hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $470-$515 cwt. Mature bulls were $250-$300 cwt., while mature cows were $225-$300 cwt.
Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$390-$415 per cwt. for bulls and heifers were $340-$384 per cwt. Mature bulls were $313-$326, while mature cows were $301-$315 per cwt. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.
Prices for live bison in Canada were C$1.65-$2.70 per pound for bulls and $1.55-$2.05 per pound for heifers of good quality or better. The mixed live animal price was $1.65-$2.25 per pound.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 597 sheep and 1,398 lambs sold Dec. 11.
Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,819 sheep and 187 goats sold Dec. 11.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $240-$300 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $240-$295, 70-85 lb. were $220-$270, 86-105 lb. were $205-$255, and 106 lb. and heavier were $200-$245. Wool rams were $100-$195 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-$175.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $220-$290, 55-69 lb. were $200-$265, 70-85 lb. were $200-$260, 86-105 lb. were $205-$238 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$205. Hair rams were $125-$201 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$190.
