Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $52.97 Nov. 9. It wasn’t available Nov. 3.

U.S. hogs averaged $67.01 on a carcass basis Nov. 9, up from $65 Nov. 3.

The U.S. pork cutout was $86.94 per hundredweight Nov. 9, down from $87.28 Nov. 3.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Nov. 9 was 1.933 million. It was 1.931 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 1.954 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Nov. 11 Signature Four price was $190.92 per 100 kilograms, down from $193.18.

China purchased just over 20 million tonnes of wheat, corn, barley and sorghum last year, that is well below the 60 million tonnes purchased in 2021-22.

The Nov 11 Hams Marketing cash price was $188.92, down from $191.18, HyLife was $202.91 this week, down from $204.51 Nov. 4. OlyWest was $188.80, down from $191.50.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $205.10, from $205.80, while HyLife’s adjusted price was $206.38, up from $205.32 Nov. 4.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association reported domestic carcass prices for finished bulls was $45-$475 per cw., hot hanging weight. Finished heifers were $450-$475 cwt hot hanging weight. Mature bulls were $250-$375 cwt. hot hanging weight, while mature cows were $225-$275 cwt. hot hanging weight.

Carcass prices for bison sold into the United States were US$410-$450 for bulls per cwt. hot hanging weight. Heifers were $375-$425 per cwt. hot hanging weight. Mature bulls were $310-$355 while mature cows were $310-$355 per cwt hot hanging weight. All prices are subject to fluctuations in the market and dollar exchange rates.

Prices for live bison in Canada were $2.40-$2.75 per pound for bulls and $2.10-$2.70 per lb. for heifers of good quality or better. Mixed live animal prices were $2-$2.40 per lb..

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 482 sheep and 751 lambs sold Nov. 6.

Beaver Hill Auctions at To field, Alta., reported that 729 sheep and 213 goats sold Nov. 6.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $160-$210 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $160-$205, 70-85 lb. were $170-$198, 86-105 lb. were $178-$221, and 106 lb. and heavier were $170-$214. Wool rams were $110-$165 per cwt. Cull ewes were $70-$135.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $140-$160, 55-69 lb. were $150-$185, 70-85 lb. were $160-$196, 86-105 lb. were $170-$215 and 106 lb. and heavier were $165-$180. Hair rams were $110-$125 per cwt. Cull ewes were $70-$135.
