Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Sep 8 was $58.43; on Aug 31 was $52.94.

U.S. hogs averaged was $79.14 on a carcass basis Sep 8, It was not available on Aug 31.

The U.S. pork cutout was $97.80 per hundred weight Sep 8, up from $92.22 on Aug 31.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sep 8 was 1.886 million. It was 2.360 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 1.932 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Sept 9 Signature Four price was $211.88 per 100 kilograms, down from $242.27.

Bond market seen as crop price threat

A grain market analyst believes the bond market is about to collapse and that could drive down commodity values.

The Sep 9 Hams Marketing cash price was $209.88, down from $219.26, HyLife was not available this week; on Sep 2 it was $$233.45. OlyWest was $212.50, down from $230.00.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $223.00 from $240.40 and HyLife’s adjusted price was not available; on Sep 2 was $233.45.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 622 sheep and 1027 lambs sold Aug 28.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported 2194 sheep and 567 goats sold Aug 28.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $175-$220 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $175-$215, 70-85 lb. were $185-$218, 86-105 lb. were $190-$237, and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$217. Wool rams were $100-$209 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$155.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$205, 55-69 lb. were $160-$205, 70-85 lb. were $160-$198, 86-105 lb. were $180-$217 and 106 lb. and heavier were $170-$212. Hair rams were $100-$170 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$157.
