Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts June 2 was not available. On May 26 it was was $62.43. U.S. hogs averaged $81.76 on a carcass basis June 2, up from $75.69 on May 26.

The U.S. pork cutout was $84.72per hundredweight June 2, up from $82.20 on May 26.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 2 was 1.914 million. It was 2.346 million the previous week. Slaughter was 1.897 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 3 Signature Four price was $197.39 per 100 kilograms, down from $198.57 the previous week.

Canola support gets mixed response

A series of canola industry support measures announced by the federal government are being met with mixed reviews.

The June 3 Hams Marketing cash price was $195.39, down from $196.57. HyLife was $210.29 this week and on May 27 it was $210.69. The OlyWest cash price was $193.90, up from $190.80.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $201.90 and HyLife’s adjusted price was $210.29. On May 27 it was $208.83.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 377 sheep and 590 lambs sold May 29.

Beaver Hill Auctions at Tofield, Alta. reported 1,126 sheep and 290 goats sold May 290.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $230-$280 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $235-$280, 70-85 lb. were $230-$283, 86-105 lb. were $230-$277, and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$255. Wool rams were $110-$203 per cwt. Cull ewes were $100-$181.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$250, 55-69 lb. were $230-$260, 70-85 lb. were $220-$280, 86-105 lb. were $220-$235 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$235. Hair rams were $120-$180 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$155.
