Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts March 17 was unavailable; it was $61.05 on March 10.

U.S. hogs averaged $77.61 on a carcass basis March 17, down from $78.17 March 10.

The U.S. pork cutout was $80.95 per hundredweight March 17, down from $87.80 March 10.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 17 was 2.398 million, up from 2.392 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.368 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Mar ch18 Signature Four price was C$202.85 per 100 kilograms, up from $200.75.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $200.85, up from $198.75, HyLife was $215.42, up from $213.57 previously and OlyWest was $196.20, up from $192.20.

OlyWest 2021 was up, at $210.80, from $205.20, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $214.41, up from $213.57.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 352 sheep and 567 lambs sold March 13.

Beaver Hill Auctions in Tofield, Alta. reported that 1,411 sheep and 3,286 goats sold March 13.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $228-275 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $235-276, 70-85 lb. were $223-274, 86-105 lb. were $215-259 and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-240. Wool rams were $96-194 per cwt. Cull ewes were $96-194.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-235, 55-69 lb. were $230-265, 70-85 lb. were $230-246, 86-105 lb. were $218-245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-235. Hair rams were $115-150 per cwt. Cull ewes were $105-150.
