Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Jan. 30 was $54.54.

U.S. hogs averaged $70.63 on a carcass basis Jan. 30, down from $71.80 Jan. 13.

The U.S. pork cutout was $79.25 per hundredweight Jan. 13, down from $81.64 Jan. 13.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 30 was 2.441 million, down from 2.688 the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.336 last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Jan. 30 Signature Four price was C$181.87 per 100 kilograms, down from $190.37.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $179.87, down from $188.37, HyLife was down to $193.26 from $200.69 the previous week and OlyWest was $175.10, down from $188.70.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 441 sheep and 894 lambs sold Jan. 30.

Beaver Hill Auctions in Tofield, Alta. reported that 1,455 sheep and 345 goats sold Jan. 23.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$250 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $222-$250, 70-85 lb. were $200-$253, 86-105 lb. were $190-$230 and 106 lb. and heavier were $180-$226. Wool rams were $104-$180 per cwt. Cull ewes were $108-$165.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $160-$226, 55-69 lb. were $200-$233, 70-85 lb. were $180-$235, 86-105 lb. were $180-$205 and 106 lb. and heavier were $165-$191. Hair rams were $90-$171 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-$190.

Note: there is no bison report this week.
