Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts Jan. 20 was $55.76.

U.S. hogs averaged $70 on a carcass basis Jan. 20, down from $71.80 Jan. 13.

The U.S. pork cutout was $79.99 per hundredweight Jan. 20, down from $81.64 Jan. 13.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 20 was 2.531 million, down from 2.684 the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.436 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Jan. 21 Signature Four price was C$185.45 per 100 kilograms, down from $190.37.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $183.45, down from $188.37, HyLife was down to $195.90 from $200.69 the previous week and OlyWest was $180.30, down from $188.70.

OlyWest 2021 was down, at $193.10 from $202.60 and HyLife’s adjusted price was down to $195.39 from $200.68.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 181 sheep and 539 lambs sold Jan. 16.

Note: no Beaver Hill sale this week; no current bison numbers either.
