Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts for Oct. 14 is not available, and was and was $70.94 Oct. 7.
U.S. hogs averaged $87.80 on a carcass basis Oct. 14, up from $86.89 Oct. 7.
The U.S. pork cutout was $101.86 per hundredweight Oct. 14, up from $101.54 Oct. 7.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Oct. 15 was 2.545 million, down from 2.558 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.630 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Oct. 15 Signature Four price was C$229.73 per 100 kilograms, up from $228.47.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $227.73, up from $226.47, HyLife was up to $244.09 from $241.91, the previous week and OlyWest was $226.90, down from $232.00.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $238.30 from $240.50 and HyLife’s adjusted price was down to $244.09. from $241.91.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada range from $4 – $4.25 per pound hot hanging weight with the occasional sale higher. Most animals purchased at $4.25 per pound. Canadian buyers are paying $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.50 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.75 to $4 per pound hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.50-$3.75. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,028 sheep and 120 goats sold Oct. 10. All classes of lambs and goats sold stronger. Sheep sold slightly better.
