Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was not available Sept. 9.
U.S. hogs averaged $91.28 on a carcass basis Sept. 9, down from $97.68 Sept. 2.
The U.S. pork cutout was $102.87 per hundredweight Sept. 9, up from $102.25 Sept. 2.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 10 was 2.343 million, up from 2.356 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.248 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Sept. 10 Signature Four price was C$237.45 per 100 kilograms, down from $247.93.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $235.45, down from $245.93, HyLife was down to $251.03 from $261.18 the previous week, and OlyWest was $242, down from $263.60.
OlyWest 2021 was down, at $244.30, from $255.40, and HyLife’s adjusted price was down to $250.43 from $259.21.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada range from $4-$4.25 per pound hot hanging weight with the occasional sale higher. Most animals were purchased at $4.25 per pound. Canadian buyers are paying $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.50-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.75-$4 per pound hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.50-$3.75. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,126 sheep sold Sept 5.
