Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was n/a June 16, was n/a June 10.

U.S. hogs averaged $115.72 on a carcass basis June 16, up from $115.30 June 10.

The U.S. pork cutout was $114.61 per hundred weight June 16 up from $109.16 June 10.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 17 was 2.372 million, same from 2.372 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.444 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 17, Signature Four price was C$242.80 per 100 kilograms, up from $234.93.

One Beer Market Updates Day 3 – Lentils and beef

The Hams Marketing cash price was $240.80 up from $232.93, HyLife was up to $258.99 from $249.37 previous week, and OlyWest was $243.90 up from $242.50. OlyWest 2021 was down to $241.80 from $243.10 and HyLife’s adjusted price was up to $258.33 from $249.16.

Bison

Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4.00 – $4.25 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls $3.75-$4.25 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.

U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4.00 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. 1371 sheep sold June 13.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1144 sheep and 537 goats sold June 13.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $190-$240 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $215-$270, 70-85 lb. were $215-$276, 86-105 lb. were $215-$265 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$240. Wool rams were $113-$215 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$163.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $175-$250 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$235, 70-85 lb. were $215-$250, 86-105 lb. were $215-$240 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$220. Hair rams were $113-$210 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-$160
