Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $88.54 June 3 and wasn’t available for May 27.
U.S. hogs averaged $112.09 on a carcass basis June 3, down from $113.21 May 27.
The U.S. pork cutout was $109.38 per hundredweight June 3 up from $106.16 May 27.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 4 was 2.044 million, up from 2.344 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 1.987 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the June 4, Signature Four price was C$232.90 per 100 kilograms, up from $227.31.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 734 sheep and 298 goats sold May 30.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $195-$250 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $210-$255, 70-85 lb. were $220-$255, 86-105 lb. were $215-$255 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$240. Wool rams were $90-$235 per cwt. Cull ewes were $80-$170.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$175 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$235, 70-85 lb. were $170-$230, 86-105 lb. were $190-$220 and 106 lb. and heavier were $180-$210. Hair rams were $100-$160 per cwt. Cull ewes were $80-$170.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4.00 – $4.25 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls $3.75-$4.25 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4.00 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
