Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $80.23, up from $80.12 May 6.
U.S. hogs averaged $101.47 on a carcass basis May 13, down from $101.98 May 6.
The U.S. pork cutout was $101.17 per hundred weight May 13 down from $104.70 May 6.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to April 30 was 2.37 million, down from 2.427 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.373 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the May 14, Signature Four price was C$229.85 per 100 kilograms, down from $231.24.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4.00 – $4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls $3.75-$4.15 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4.00 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported sheep, lambs and goats sold easier.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., didn’t report this week.
