Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $81.91 March 18. It was unavailable for March 11.
U.S. hogs averaged $103.70 on a carcass basis March 18, up from $101.57 March 11.
The U.S. pork cutout was $104.95 per hundredweight March 18, up from $102.55 March 4.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 19 was 2.435 million, up from 2.475 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.524 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the March 19 Signature Four price was C$224.99 per 100 kilograms, up from $223.91.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4-$4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and $3.75-$4.15 for heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.60-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,122 sheep and 40 goats sold March 14.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,157 sheep and 281 goats sold March 14.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $250-$345 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $350-$400, 70-85 lb. were $330-$389, 86-105 lb. were $290-$363 and 106 lb. and heavier were $245-$305. Wool rams were $150-$255 per cwt. Cull ewes were $150-$230.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $220-$280 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $260-$335, 70-85 lb. were $290-$340, 86-105 lb. were $275-$330 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$280. Hair rams were $170-$205 per cwt. Cull ewes were $140-$245.
