Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $44.07 Nov. 19, down from $47.35 Nov. 12.
U.S. hogs averaged $54.95 on a carcass basis Nov. 19, down from $58 Nov. 12. The U.S. pork cutout was $89.82 per hundredweight Nov. 19, down from $94.71 Nov. 12.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Nov. 20 was 2.635 million, up from 2.614 million the previous week. Slaughter was 2.727 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Nov. 20 Signature Four price was C$173.43 per 100 kilograms, down from $176.91.
The Hams Marketing cash price was $171.43, down from $174.91, HyLife was $182.92, down from $187.01, and OlyWest was $172.30, down from $175.10. OlyWest 2021 was $193.30, down from $196.40, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $191.02, down from $196.80.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4-$4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and $3.90-$4.15 for heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.85-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked.
Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 955 sheep and lambs and 82 goats sold fully steady to stronger Nov 15.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 995 sheep and 107 goats sold Nov 15.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $230-$265 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $248-$292, 70-85 lb. were $227-$265, 86-105 lb. were $210-$256 and 106 lb. and heavier were $210-$229. Wool rams were $134-$185 per cwt. Cull ewes were $125-$200.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $190-$255 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $240-$276, 70-85 lb. were $225-$253, 86-105 lb. were $195-$230 and 106 lb. and heavier were $200-$220. Hair rams were $165-$195 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$165.
