Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts is $58.43 Sept. 24, was n/a Sept. 17.
U.S. hogs averaged $76.93 on a carcass basis Sept. 24 down from $81.48 Sept. 17.
The U.S. pork cutout was $110.77 per hundredweight Sept. 24, up from $105.41 Sept. 17.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 25 was 2.578 million, up from 2.537 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.606 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Sept. 25 Signature Four price was C$209.27 per 100 kilograms, down from $213.58.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4.00 – $4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls, $3.90-$4.15 on heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60 – $4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$3.85-$4.00 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1455 sheep, lambs and 187 goats Sept. 20.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,491 sheep and 136 goats sold Sept. 20.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $220-$279 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $215-$278, 70-85 lb. were $203-$272, 86-105 lb. were $195-$230 and 106 lb. and heavier were $195-$230. Wool rams were $136-$180 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$190.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $170-$210 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $200-$240, 70-85 lb. were $190-$240, 86-105 lb. were $190-$215 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$205. Hair rams were $148-$180 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-$175.
