Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $67.56 on March 19, down from $68.89 March 12.
U.S. hogs averaged $87.72 on a carcass basis March 19, up from $84.40 March 12.
The U.S. pork cutout was $102.99 per hundredweight March 19, up from $98.30 March 12.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 20 was 2.524 million, down from 2.578 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.799 last year at the same time.
In Canada, the March 20 Signature Four price was C$198.23 per 100 kilograms, up from $193.49.

Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $3.70 – $3.90 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and heifers on light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.80 – $5 for prime bulls and $4.40 – $4.80 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1,215 sheep and lambs and 13 goats sold March 15.
Light lambs sold much stronger. Heavy lambs sold steady. Sheep sold lower. Goats also sold steady.
