Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $40.75 Sept. 11, up from $37.18 Sept. 4.
U.S. hogs averaged $54.40 on a carcass basis Sept. 11, up from $45.89 Sept. 4.
The U.S. pork cutout was $81.25 per hundredweight Sept. 11, up from $80.56 Sept. 4.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 12 was 2.335 million, down from 2.475 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.632 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Sept. 12 Signature Four price was C$147.74 per 100 kilograms, up from $139.22.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $145.74, up from $137.22. HyLife was not available this week but last week was $147.97, and OlyWest was $136.80, up from $133.40. OlyWest’s 2021price was $161.00, up from $156.50. HyLife’s adjusted price was not available but last week was $164.36.
Bison
Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $3.50 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and heifers on light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $5 for prime bulls and $4.80 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.
U.S. buyers are paying US$4.00 per pound hog hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation, and export costs.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 526 sheep and lambs and 37 goats sold Sept 8. The company experienced a lighter run because of the Labour Day holiday. Lambs, sheep and goats all sold higher.
