Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $42.88 per hundredweight Oct. 18, up from $41.92 on Oct. 11.
U.S. hogs averaged $56.87 on a carcass basis Oct. 18, up from $56.27 Oct. 11.
The U.S. pork cutout was $77.03 per cwt. Oct. 18, down from $77.52 Oct. 11.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Oct. 19 was 2.726 million, up from 2.695 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.599 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Oct. 19 Signature Five price was C$148.30 per 100 kilograms, up from C$138.87 the previous week.

Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$4.80-$5 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$3.85-$4 per lb. with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$4.70-$4.80. U.S. buyers are offering US$3.60-$3.80 per lb.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 775 sheep and lambs and 42 goats sold Oct. 18. Good new crop lambs sold higher and well fed heavy lambs sold steady. All other classes of livestock sold steady.
