Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$54.21 per cwt. Aug 16, down from $55.54 Aug 9.

U.S. hogs averaged $69.65 on a carcass basis Aug 16, down from $70.98 Aug 9.

The U.S. pork cutout was $86.26 per cwt. Aug 16, down from $90.44 Aug 9.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Aug 17 was 2.497 million, down from 2.354 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.459 million last year at the same time.

In Canada August 17 Signature Five price was C$181.88 per 100 kilograms, down from C$189.61 the week before.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$4.80-$5.10. per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.00 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.

Grade A heifers sold up to C$4.70-$4.80 U.S. buyers are offering US$3.80.

Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 993 sheep and lambs and 143 goats sold Aug 12. All classes of lambs traded extremely lower from 20-80cwt. Sheep traded 10-20 lower. Goats also sold lower due to special holiday being over.
