Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$34.48 per hundredweight March 1, down from $37.93 Feb. 22.
U.S. hogs averaged $45.01 on a carcass basis March 1, down from $46.76 Feb. 22.
The U.S. pork cutout was $61.92 per cwt. March 1, up from $59.01 Feb. 22.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to March 2 was 2.449 million, down from 2.494 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.419 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the March 2 Signature Five price was C$119.95 per 100 kilograms, down from $124.48 the previous week.

Farmers in Western Canada can expect price pressure on their new crop of green lentils, as the available supplies among the world’s major lentil-growing nations increase significantly.
On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $54.41, down from $56.46.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.30-$5.60 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.30 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.10-$5.30. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.15.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 385 sheep and lambs and 45 goats sold Feb. 25. All classes of sheep, lambs and goats sold actively at $5-$7 per cwt. higher. Goats were steady.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 344 sheep and 80 goats sold Feb. 25.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $190-$225 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $230-$260, 70-85 lb. were $226-$250, 86-105 lb. were $173-$215 and 106 lb. and heavier were $171-$189.
Wool rams were $114-$121 per cwt. Cull ewes were $116-$140.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $180-$210 per cwt., 55-lb. were $220-$250, 70-85 lb. were $220-$248, 86-105 lb. were $170-$205 and 106 lb. and heavier were $160-$177.
Hair rams were $110-$125 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$140.
