Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$35.82 per hundredweight Jan. 4 up from $35.67 Dec. 27.
U.S. hogs averaged $48.22 on a carcass basis Jan. 4, up from $44.82 Dec. 27.
The U.S. pork cutout was $69.70 per cwt. Jan. 4, down from $70.44 Dec. 27.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Jan. 4 was 2.262 million, up from 1.884 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.122 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Jan. 5 Signature Five price was C$126.38 per 100 kilograms, up from $123.30 the previous week.

On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $57.33, up from $55.93.
Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.60-$5.80. per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.40-$5.60. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.20.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 682 sheep and lambs and 12 goats sold Jan. 2. A light run of average quality new crop lambs sold steady. All others sold on a good demand at steady to stronger prices. Sheep and goats sold steady.
