Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$37.81 per hundredweight Dec. 7, down from $39.50 Nov. 30.

U.S. hogs averaged $47.89 on a carcass basis Dec. 7, down from $50.03 Nov. 30.

The U.S. pork cutout was $73.63 per cwt. Dec. 7, up from $69.12 Nov. 30.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Dec. 8 was 2.558 million, up from 2.531 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.541 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Dec. 8 Signature Five price was C$128.26 per 100 kilograms, down from $130.14 the previous week.

Market analysts found some stressed crops and some good ones on pre-Ag In Motion 2025 crop tours,

On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $58.19, down from $59.03.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.60-$5.80 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.

Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.40-$5.60. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.20.

Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 2,630 sheep and lambs and 99 goats sold Dec. 3. Lightweight lambs, sheep and goats sold steady. Heavy lambs traded $40-$45 cwt. lower.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 202 sheep and 18 goats sold Dec. 3.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $165-$190 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $180-$190, 70-85 lb. were $180-$194, 86-105 lb. were $180-$195 and 106 lb. and heavier were $163-$177.

Wool rams were $91-$117 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$136.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$175 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$182, 70-85 lb. were $170-$180, 86-105 lb. were $170-$185 and 106 lb. and heavier were $160-$170.

Hair rams were $92-$110 per cwt. Cull ewes were $94-$118.
