Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$39.50 per hundredweight Nov. 30, down from $39.94 Nov. 23.

U.S. hogs averaged $50.03 on a carcass basis Nov. 30, down from $50.42 Nov. 23.

The U.S. pork cutout was $69.12 per cwt. Nov. 30, up from $66.93 Nov. 23.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Dec. 1 was 2.548 million, up from 2.258 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.547 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the Dec. 1 Signature Five price was C$130.14 per 100 kilograms, down from $135.72 the previous week.

China purchased just over 20 million tonnes of wheat, corn, barley and sorghum last year, that is well below the 60 million tonnes purchased in 2021-22.

On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $59.03, down from $60.40.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.60-$5.80 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.

Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.40-$5.60. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.20.

Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,096 sheep and lambs and 147 goats sold Nov. 26. Light new crop lambs sold $5-$10 cwt. higher. All other lambs and goats sold steady. Good sheep sold $5 per cwt. higher. Good lean sheep sold $5-$10 per cwt. higher.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 734 sheep and 81 goats sold Nov. 26.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $165-$195 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $170-$210, 70-85 lb. were $170-$189, 86-105 lb. were $166-$192 and 106 lb. and heavier were $166-$180.

Wool rams were $91-$117 per cwt. Cull ewes were $95-$136.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $150-$175 per cwt., 55- 69 lb. were $170-$192, 70-85 lb. were $170-$180, 86-105 lb. were $170-$185 and 106 lb. and heavier were $160-$170.

Hair rams were $92-$110 per cwt. Cull ewes were $94-$118.
