Bison
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.80-$6. per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.60 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.60-$5.80. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Hogs
The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$49.07 per hundredweight Oct. 5, up from $48.70 Sept. 21.

U.S. hogs averaged $63.63 on a carcass basis Oct. 5, up from $63 Sept. 21.
The U.S. pork cutout was $79.56 per cwt. Oct. 5, down from $83.33 Sept. 21.
The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Oct. 6 was 2.503 million, down from 2.560 million the previous week.
Slaughter was 2.519 million last year at the same time.
In Canada, the Oct. 6 Signature Five price was C$153.35 per 100 kilograms, up from $148.55 the previous week.
On a per hundredweight basis, the price was $69.56, up from $67.38.
Lambs
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 876 sheep and lambs and 48 goats sold Oct. 1. All lambs traded steady to slightly higher. Good sheep sold $3-$5 cwt. higher. Goats sold steady.
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,986 sheep and 368 goats sold Oct. 1.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $185-$225 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $200-$229, 70-85 lb. were $190-$215, 86-105 lb. were $190-$210 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$207.
Wool rams were $85-$146 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$147.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $155-$190 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $171-$220, 70-85 lb. were $171-$210, 86-105 lb. were $180-$200 and 106 lb. and heavier were $180-$196.
Hair rams were $80-$141 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$137.
