Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was US$43.92 per cwt. Sept. 21 up from $38.52 Sept. 14.

U.S. hogs averaged $59.37 on a carcass basis Sept. 21, up from $50.59 Sept. 14.

The U.S. pork cutout was $79.18 per cwt. Sept. 21, up from $76.02 Sept. 14.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to Sept. 22 was 2.341 million, up from 2.315 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.496 million last year at the same time.

In Canada Sept. 22 Signature Five price was C$131.93 per 100 kilograms, up from $117.83 the week before.

Global vegetable oil stocks are forecast to tighten in the 2025-26 crop year, this should bode well for canola demand.

On a per hundredweight basis price was $59.84 up from $53.45.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices from C$5.80-$6. per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.60 or more with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.

Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.60-$5.80 U.S. buyers are offering US$4.40.

Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported 1358 sheep and lambs and 36 goats sold Sept. 17. Light weight lambs traded $10-$15 cwt lower, mostly due to poorer quality. Heavy type lambs sold barely steady to $5 cwt lower. Good sheep sold barely steady with some thin types under pressure. Good goats sold steady with thinner types under pressure.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 1351 sheep and 223 goats sold Sept. 17.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $170-$210 per cwt., 55 to 69 lb. were $191-$215, 70 to 85 lb. were $190-$210, 86 to 105 lb. were $190-$212 and 106 lb. and heavier were $190-$214.

Wool rams were $85-$125 per cwt. Cull ewes were $90-$150.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $155-$185 per cwt., 55 to 69 lb. were $169-$200, 70 to 85 lb. were $171-$194, 86 to 105 lb. were $175-$196 and 106 lb. and heavier were $175-$192.

Hair rams were $95-$110 per cwt. Cull ewes were $85-$132.
