Hogs fall
Sharply lower pork prices pressured cash hog prices lower.
Pork is under pressure as pork month in the United States wraps up and we enter the gap before holiday ham demand increases.
Hogs were also pressured by ample supply and the usual seasonal trend toward weaker prices in the fourth quarter.
Iowa-southern Minnesota hogs delivered were US$50-$50.50 per hundredweight Oct. 30, down from $52.50-$53 Oct. 23.
U.S. hogs averaged $60.90 on a carcass basis Oct. 30, down from $68 Oct. 23.

The U.S. pork cutout was $78.14 per cwt. Oct. 30, down from $85.98 Oct. 23.

Bison steady
The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range sold at prices up to C$5.35 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$4.25 with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.
Grade A heifers sold up to C$5.15 U.S. buyers are offering US$4.10.
Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.
Lambs steady
Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 1,018 sheep and 179 goats sold Oct 26.
Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $214-$246 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $216-$249, 70-85 lb. were $190-$222, 86-105 lb. were $172-$197 and 106 lb. and heavier were $167-$178.
Wool rams were $73-$90 per cwt. Cull ewes were $65-$119.
Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $186-$229 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $200-$232.50, 70-85 lb. were $170-$211, 86-105 lb. were $170-$180 and 106 lb. and heavier were $160-$171.
Hair rams were $72-$111 per cwt. Cull ewes were $65-$115.
Feeder kids lighter than 60 lb. were $100-$200. Good kid goats lighter than 70 lb. were $190-$245. Those heavier than 70 lb. were $200-$235 per cwt. Nannies were $70-$105 per cwt. Billies were $130-$155.
Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,335 sheep and lambs and 155 goats traded Oct 26.
All classes of lambs and goats sold steady. Sheep traded $3-$5 lower.
