Hogs steady
Narrowing pork plant profits discouraged higher bids.
The average Iowa-Minnesota hog weight two weeks ago was 267.4 pounds, up from 267 lb. the week before and 259.4 lb. a year earlier.
Corn prices fell, raising speculation that the sow cull might stall and the decline in pig and pork production next year might be less than expected.
Iowa-southern Minnesota cash hogs at about $38 US per hundredweight were about steady with Sept. 4.
The U.S. pork carcass cut-out value fell to $53.73 Sept. 11, down slightly from $54.04 Sept. 4.

Sheep steady
Ontario Stockyards reported 997 sheep and lambs and 159 goats traded Sept. 8. Sheep, lambs and goats were steady.
