Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 760 sheep and 160 goats traded Jan. 11. Sheep prices strengthened with all classes steady to higher. Goats were steady for the quality on offer.
Lambs lighter than 70 lb. were $150-$177 per cwt. Lambs 75 to 85 lb. were $155-$167, 86 to 105 lb. were $145-$160, and those heavier than 105 lb. were $130-$146.
Rams were $76-$90 per cwt. Ewe culls were $73-$86. Bred ewes were $85-$124. Good kid goats heavier than 50 lb. were $150-$192.50 per cwt. Nannies were $40-$85 per cwt. Mature billies were $102.50-$140.
Ontario Stockyards on Jan. 11 sold 1,422 sheep and lambs and 84 goats. Light lamb prices were a little lower. All others sold steady. Goats traded actively.
