Total wheat and coarse grain production globally is projected to fall for a second year with a smaller 2018-19 crop, according to the International Grains Council. While corn and sorghum have risen, they are outweighed by other grain declines. Wheat production is expected to fall by 41 million tonnes year over year and barley will see its smallest harvest in six seasons. Global consumption for all purposes is set to reach a new high of 2,136 million tonnes, up 29 million tonnes over last season. World carryout stocks are predicted to contract for a second year in a row, 64 million tonnes down from last year, to a four-year low of 544 million tonnes. Chinese inventory reductions form half of that fall.

Canola not flying to China
