U.S. corn crop hits headwinds

James Mintert, director of the Center for Commercial Agriculture at Purdue University, said most farmers planted the crop in a timely manner, but it doesn't look that way. He was struck by how late some of the corn looked on a recent crop tour of Indiana.

China's prime wheat-growing region received a deluge of rain at the end of harvest. Reuters reports that fields of ripe wheat in Henan province were flooded the week ending May 28. That province produced 28 percent of last year's wheat crop.
