Large increases to Canadian Wheat Board initial payments have been approved by the federal government, effective April 17.
Adjustment payments for grain already delivered will be direct deposited May 2 or mailed by May 6.
Increases for wheat range from $34 to $53 per tonne depending on grade, class and protein level.
For milling durum, the increase is $80 per tonne and for Pool B feed barley the increase is $65. Designated barley is unchanged.
The initial for No. 1 CW red spring wheat 12.5 percent protein climbs $53 per tonne, raising the total so far to $325.10. The initial for this wheat grade now stands at 84 percent of the March Pool Return Outlook of $385 per tonne at Vancouver.
The payment for No. 1 durum 12.5 percent protein jumps $80 a tonne to $479.50, or 91 percent of the March PRO of $526.
No. 1 feed barley Pool B rises $65 to $222.50, or 81 percent of the PRO.
