The federal government has approved increases to initial payments for wheat, durum and designated barley.
The Canadian Wheat Board reported Feb. 16 that wheat initials rose by $30 per tonne. With the increase, the initial payment for No. 1 CW red spring wheat 12.5 percent protein now stands at $243 per tonne, or $6.61 per bushel, at port.
Durum initials increased by $25.80 per tonne to $275.80 for No. 1 12.5 percent protein.
Designated barley rose by $39 per tonne. Select two-row is now $293 per tonne and Select six-row is now $273 per tonne.
Adjustment payments for grain already delivered will be mailed by March 6 or received by direct deposit on March 3.
