BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (Reuters) – Plentiful rains in recent weeks across much of Argentina’s grains belt have improved the outlook for corn and soy sowing, but it’s a long way to go until harvest and drier weather could hurt crops in the next two months, meteorologists say.
Argentina is a leading supplier of corn and soy and ideal weather conditions last season lifted output of both grains to record highs. However, there is concern about drier weather this season due to the La Nina weather anomaly.
Cordoba and Buenos Aires provinces are the South American country’s top two corn and soy producers. Corn planting started in late August and farmers are due to begin soy seeding in the next few weeks.
