ICE canola advances with soy oil

WINNIPEG, November 23 – ICE Canada canola contracts were sharply higher at midday on Wednesday, tracking gains in Chicago Board of Trade soy oil.

CBOT soy oil advanced on Wednesday, as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a 2017 blending mandate higher than investors had expected.

“It’s turning into a pretty wild affair here,” said one Winnipeg-based analyst.

While supported by the EPA news, canola was lagging soy oil to the upside, as traders were uncertain about how long the rally will last.

Milling wheat, durum and barley futures were all untraded and unchanged.
