By Commodity News Service Canada

WINNIPEG, May 9 (CNS) – Enbridge has announced plans to
sell 49 per cent of its renewable power interests to the
Canadian Pension Plan. The agreement is worth C$1.75 billion and
includes a massive wind farm in Colorado and a large solar
project in Nevada.
Walmart is expanding its online presence in India. The
company is buying a 77 per cent stake in Flipkart, one of the
country’s largest e-commerce markets. The US$16 billion deal is
expected to help Walmart better compete with Amazon.
One of Canada’s largest newspaper companies is reporting a
sizable quarterly loss. Torstar, which publishes the Toronto
Star, shed C$14.5 million in its first quarter. The loss comes
just months after Torstar and rival publisher Postmedia
exchanged 41 publications and then closed several of them.
