Global Markets: Ukraine incursion met with fresh attacks

  • Ukraine’s recent incursion into Russia was reportedly being met by fresh Russian attacks, with intense battles across the Kursk region. A Ukrainian commander claimed that Ukraine now controlled roughly 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory, while Russian military officials claimed the level was only half that.

 

  • A forest fire continued to burn north of Athens, Greece on Tuesday, with at least one person confirmed dead from the blaze that has also damaged several homes and businesses. A drop in the winds that were hampering firefighting efforts was welcomed by officials.

 

  • A two-hour interview between former United States President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk on Musk’s social media platform X was marred by technical difficulties Monday evening that delaying the start. Musk blamed the issues on a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack, but the claims were unverified, and the rest of the site appeared to be working as normal.
