Aug. 7 (CNS Canada) – The following is a glance at the news
moving markets in Canada and globally.

Rick Gates, an associate of United States President Donald
Trump’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort testified that he
did not report 15 bank accounts to the federal government at
Manafort’s request. He also admitted he was involved in
committing crimes with Manafort.

business in the U.S. Iran rejected last-minute talks to try and
reach an agreement, saying it would not do so because the U.S.
has pulled out of a previous deal struck in 2015. European Union
countries, China and Russia have said they will continue to do
business in Iran.

The Canadian Embassy in Saudi Arabia remains open today, despite
a sharp rebuke from the country following Canada’s statement in
defense of human rights abuses going on in the kingdom. Saudi
Arabia, meanwhile, has cancelled scholarships for about 16,000
students in Canada, has suspended airline flights to and from
Toronto and has suspended any new trade deals between the two.
