- There was jubilation in Israel and Gaza on Thursday, as Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement in Egypt. The deal comes after two years of war that has thoroughly devastated Gaza. Among the terms, Hamas is to return all remaining Israeli hostages. Reports said 20 hostages are believed to be alive and 26 others have been declared dead in absentia. About 67,000 Palestinians are believed to have been killed in the fighting.

- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in the House of Commons on Wednesday that Canadian and U.S. officials are negotiating a deal on tariffs. Carney was criticized by Opposition leader Pierre Poilievre for returning from his White House meeting with President Donald Trump without an agreement. Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc and Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand have remained in Washington for further discussions. “We will get even a better deal,” Carney responded.
- French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that he will name a new prime minister in two days. This came following Monday’s resignation of Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, who officially stepped down yesterday. Macron will now appoint his fourth PM. They will take on the daunting task of formulating a budget that can be passed in the deeply divided National Assembly by Dec. 31.
- As the U.S. government shutdown continues with no export report from the Department of Agriculture, the trade still issued their estimates for export sales of soybeans, corn and wheat. U.S. soybeans were pegged between 600,000 to 1.6 million tonnes, with soymeal at 150,000 to 300,000 tonnes and soyoil at zero to 25,000 tonnes. Corn was forecasted at 1.2 million to two million tonnes and wheat at 350,000 to 600,000 tonnes.
