The health ministry in Gaza said the Palestinian death toll from the resulting war has exceeded 10,000. United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken ended a diplomatic tour on Monday after a with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara. Blinken had already visited Israel, Jordan, the West Bank, Cyprus and Iraq to promote the idea of “humanitarian pauses” to allow much-needed aid to Gaza as well as the release of hostages. However, Israel has rejected the idea and Muslim-majority nations want to see an immediate ceasefire.

– About 420,000 public sector workers in Quebec, represented by the Front commun group of unions, have staged a one-day walkout on Monday to pressure the provincial government on a new deal. New York Attorney General Leticia James is seeking US$250 million in fines and restrictions on Trump and his two sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, from doing business in the state. Judge Arthur Engoron already ruled that financial documents brought forward by the defence were fraudulent.
