  • As much needed rain fell across the United States Midwest over the weekend, the systems also generated more than 80 tornadoes with more to come. Reports said so far four people have been reported dead after twisters struck Oklahoma on Saturday and fifth was killed by another tornado in Iowa. More twisters have been forecast on Monday for northeast Texas, northern Louisiana, southern Missouri and Arkansas.

 

  • The foreign ministers of France and the United Kingdom commented on Monday that progress was being made towards a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas as talks continued in Cario. Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, U.S. secretary of state Anthony Blinken urged Hamas to accept Israel’s latest terms that include the release of 40 of the estimated 130 Israelis still held captive.

 

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ramped up his pleas for more Western support on Sunday after Russian forces captured three villages over the weekend. He called for more Patriot surface to air missiles, as well starting formal talks to join the European Union and for an invitation from NATO to join the alliance.
