Global Markets: Canada adds jobs, but unemployment rate up

  • Canada’s unemployment rate was up by 0.1 percentage points in February, to come in at 5.8 per cent, according to a report from Statistics Canada. The rise came despite 41,000 new jobs being created as population growth outpaced employment growth.

 

 

  • March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a global day to recognize and celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and girls. The day is also a time to raise awareness of the progress being made towards achieving gender equality while also recognizing that more work remains.
