– Alibaba has announced plans to introduce a mobile payment service to the Canadian market. The Chinese online sales giant says it will launch AliPay in the near future. The payment processing service allows its customers to buy merchandise at Canadian shops and stores.

– The impact of Hurricane Irma is being felt by the orange juice market. According to the Florida Department of Citrus, approximately 70 to 100 percent of crops in southwest Florida were decimated by the storm. Further south, producers in Mexico are still recovering from a major earthquake that struck the country last week.

– Truckers in France are protesting proposed changes to labour laws. Road-blocks have been thrown up across the country in response to plans by President Emmanuel Macron to reduce the power of national collective bargaining. Many of the blockages are situated near fuel depots.
