Pinnacle Asset Management announced in a press release
Wednesday, it had bought United States-based Five Rivers Cattle
Feeding from JBS USA for approximately US$200 million. Five
Rivers Cattle Feeding is the largest cattle feeding operation in
the world. The sale includes 11 feed yards across Arizona,
Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, with feeding

The drought in Argentina’s Pampas grains belt is expected
to reduce corn yields and reduce the 2017/18 harvest by 3.7
million tonnes, according to a story by Reuters. The Pampas
region received rain last week however the showers were uneven,
leaving many areas parched.
Researchers at Oregon State University have developed a new
variety of barley called “Buck” naked, according to a story by
Science Daily. The new variety developed for the Pacific United
States has a hull which falls to the ground during harvest. The
variety has a modest beta-glucan level which allows it to be
used for food, feed or brewing.
Feed barley and feed wheat prices in Western Canada are
from the Prairie Ag Hotwire. Feed barley prices in Alberta are
between C$3.35 to C$4.79 per bushel. Feed wheat prices in
Saskatchewan are sitting at C$4.50 to C$4.90 per bushel. However
corn in North Dakota rose five U.S. cents to US$2.58 to US$3.03
per bushel.
