Feed Grains: US ethanol production down on week

WINNIPEG, Oct. 13 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Thursday, October 13.

– CBOT corn futures settled higher on Thursday, as a rally in wheat provided spillover support. The December contract was up 12.50 cents at US$3.4950 per bushel.

– France’s AgriMer has lowered its forecasts on the size of barley and corn exports from the country this year. The agency now sees barley exports at 4.61 million tonnes and corn at 5.16 million tonnes. The country exported 7.69 million tonnes of barley and 6.09 million tonnes of corn in 2015/16.

– Ukraine’s grain harvest was 80 per cent complete, as of October 11, with 46.7 million tonnes of grain harvested to date, according to the country’s agriculture ministry.

– Weekly US ethanol production came in at 962 billion barrels per day during the last reporting period, which was down by 18 million from the previous week. Total stocks of the renewable fuel were also down.

– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$147 to C$165 per tonne range as of October 7, which were unchanged from the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Feed wheat prices were down by about five dollars on average, to range from C$170 to C$185 in Lethbridge.
