WINNIPEG, June 7 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, June 7.
– CBOT corn futures were stronger on Tuesday, finding some spillover support from the gains in soybeans. Concerns over hot and dry Midwestern weather forecasts contributed to the firmer tone. The July contract was up a half cent at US$4.2775 per bushel.
– The US corn crop was 99 per cent seeded as of this past Sunday, according to USDA data. The crop was rated 75 per cent good-to-excellent, which was an improvement of three percentage points on the week.

– Plant breeders with Syngenta in the UK have developed a new variety of feed wheat, Graham. It reportedly boosts yields while also increasing disease resistance to a number of wheat diseases: including septoria tritici, mildew, rust, and fusarium.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$208 to C$213 per tonne range as of June 6; down by C$2 to C$4 from the previous week, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$232 to C$235 range, which were down by as C$5 from the previous week.
