Feed Grains: Ukrainian spring seeding nearly complete

WINNIPEG, June 2 (CNS Canada) – Ukrainian farmers are nearly finished seeding their spring crops, according to the latest report from UkrAgroConsult.

Corn in the country is 99 per cent seeded, with 4.442 million hectares in the ground. Spring barley is 95 per cent done, with 1.564 million hectares seeded as of June 1.

Weekly US corn exports came in at only 139,700 tonnes according to the latest USDA report, which was well short of market expectations.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$176 to C$183 per tonne range as of May 26, which was an improvement of about three dollars a bushel on the top end compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were down slightly, at C$195 to C$196 per tonne in Lethbridge.
