Winnipeg – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Tuesday, January 5.
– CBOT corn futures were up on Tuesday, gaining 1.5 cents in the March contract to settle at US$3.5300 per bushel, as speculators bought back some of their large net short positions.
– Ukraine barley exports in November, 2015, of 354,700 tonnes, were roughly triple the level posted during the same month the previous year, according to a report from UkrAgroConsult. However, total exports were still running slightly behind the previous year’s pace, with 3.36 million tonnes moved during the first five months of the marketing year to date. That compares with 3.49 million tonnes during the July to November period of 2014.

– South Korea’s Nonghyup Feed Inc. (NOFI) is tendering to purchase 60,000 tonnes of feed wheat and 13,000 tonnes of feed barley, according to reports.
– Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$215 to C$217 per tonne area as of December 18, according to provincial reports. Feed wheat prices were in the C$226 to C$230 range. Updated prices from the government are set to be released on January 8.
