Feed Grains: Ukraine grain exports running strong

WINNIPEG, Jan. 3 (CNS Canada) – Ukrainian grain exports are running ahead of the year ago pace, according to reports.

Ukraine exported nearly 22 million tonnes during the 2016/17 crop-year-to-date, according to UkrAgroConsult. The exports were up by 1.03 million tonnes from the same point the previous year.

US ethanol production came in a bit below expectations in October, at 1.293 billion gallons, but stocks of the renewable fuel were still relatively large at 840 million gallons, according to reports.

Corn futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were stronger on Tuesday, boosted by weather worries in South America.

Feed barley bids in the key cattle feeding area of Lethbridge, Alberta were in the C$169 to C$175 per tonne range as of December 23, which were relatively steady compared to the previous week, according to the latest pricing information from the provincial government. Top end feed wheat prices were also steady, at C$185 to C$190 per tonne in Lethbridge.
