Feed Grains: Ukraine exports nearly 5 million tonnes of grain

WINNIPEG, July 19 (CNS Canada) – Following are a few highlights in the Canadian and world feed grains markets on Friday, July 19.

– Canada exported 302,100 tonnes of wheat for the week ending August 14, according to the Canadian Grain Commission.

– A scarcity of water and farmers scaling back on wheat production could push up South Africa’s wheat imports to 24.4 million tonnes by year 2025, projected South Africa’s Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy.

– Since the beginning of the country’s 2016/17 marketing year, Ukraine has exported nearly 5 million tonnes of grains, according to reports. Wheat exports totalled 2.432 million tonnes, while barley exports totalled 1.899 million tonnes.

– Harvests in Saskatchewan are underway, with 62 per cent of winter wheat now in the bin, according to the province’s latest crop report.

– Feed barley in Western Canada remained steady with top prices of C$2.60 to C$3.96 per bushel, according to Prairie Ag Hotwire.
